Fascinating story of how Patagonia’s Better Sweater Fleece Vest became the go-to status symbol for some of the biggest and richest corporations in the world, catapulting the outdoor clothing company known for its environmental and political activism into a billion dollar brand. A while back we did a post on the “Mid-Town Uniform” about tech bro and hedge funders preferred co-branded sleeveless jackets but I had no idea how big a deal this corporate fashion quirk actually was. Patagonia was not oblivious to this trend and put their money where their mouth is by discontinuing co-branding their vest to companies that don’t align with their mission statement: “We’re in business to save our home planet.”
